【 Milestones of Hong Kong Geopark 】

Hong Kong Geopark became a National Geopark of China in 2009 and became a member of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) in 2011. In 2015, following the formalisation of the Geopark Programme by UNESCO, Hong Kong Geopark was renamed Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark. Since its designation, Hong Kong Geopark has been dedicated to preserving the geoheritage and ecological environment, as well as cultural and intangible heritage, within its boundary. A wide range of initiatives have been launched and efforts have been made to popularise earth sciences, and close collaborate with geopark communities for regional sustainable development.
