To increase the public's understanding and appreciating of landforms in Hong Kong, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, The Friends of Country Parks and publishers have jointly published a series of field study guides concerning the Hong Kong Rocks. This series aim to assist readers to discern and protect the magnificent rock features. The books also provide informative reference for teachers and students in class or during field study.
All the publications would be available at major bookstores.
The book is published by Civil Engineering and Development Department at an introductory level, in both Chinese and English, featuring the story behind the discovery of Hong Kong's supervolcano. It is hoped that this story will inspire Hong Kong's young scientific minds to consider studying Earth Sciences, and to envisage the potential contribution they can make toward understanding our natural world.

This book has been written by the Hong Kong Geological Survey of GEO. It includes a brief history of geological studies in Hong Kong, supplementary information on structural geology, some new diagrams and photographs, and an appendix containing a field guide to pertinent sites featuring well-exposed granitic, volcanic and sedimentary rocks, and their related geological features in different parts of Hong Kong.
